Dear Colleagues:
I’m excited to announce that I have a new book out this month. The ULTIMATE Career for Nurses: Practical Advice for Thriving at Every Stage of Your Career explores career options and reminds nurses how to love what they do. Check it out!
NANDA International NANDA International is committed to developing nursing diagnostic terminology that would provide nurses at all levels and in all areas of practice with standardized nursing terminology. This terminology would allow nurses to name client responses to actual or potential health problems, life processes, and wellness; document care for reimbursement of nursing services; contribute to the development of informatics and information standards, ensuring the inclusion of nursing terminology in electronic health care records; and facilitate study of the phenomena of concern to nurses for the purpose of improving patient care. Career Article: Dear Donna: Free Career Advice Following are a sampling of questions and answers that have been featured in my Dear Donna online advice column at www.nurse.com. "Dear Donna" answers questions from prospective nurses, nursing students, new grads, experienced nurses, and other healthcare professionals from all over the world. Ask your question today! Quote of the Month: The mind has exactly the same power as the hands; not merely to grasp the world, but to change it. — Colin Wilson Donna's Blog: No 'Former' Nurses I was recently speaking with a meeting planner (someone who orchestrates conferences and conventions for a client) and she said she wanted me to speak to a group of hospital managers — all 'former' nurses. She works with people who want to release anxiety, anger, and anguish, and want to embrace, cherish, and celebrate life. Lynn lights up a room, a stage, and your heart with warmth that heals and a fire that ignites stalled spirits. Lynn got started in business after Medicare cutbacks caused her position, which she liked and wouldn’t have otherwise left, to be eliminated. Destiny? Perhaps. But it wasn’t easy for this divorced mother of 3 sons to start a business on her own. That’s why she advises nurses interested into getting into business to "keep a job at least part time until you’re established, so you have income to be able to pay for the choices that will move your business along. Additionally, knowledge, passion, and being good at what you do are not enough. Marketing, marketing, and marketing are three of the top ten keys to success," says Lynn. Little things along the way kept her spirits up: "When things were difficult, I usually got a phone call, a note in the mail, or an e-mail telling me how I was helpful to someone. It encouraged me to keep going," says Lynn. Lynn is author of the audiobook Dancing Gracefully with Life and the booklet "Welcome Wellness." She is a contributing author to Touched By Angels of Mercy, by Laura Lagana. She has published more than 100 articles To learn more about Lynn, her products, and her services, visit her websites: www.lynndurham.com and www.thewayofthecrossandresurrection.com.
