Dear Colleagues:
Nurses have always helped those harmed in war or devastated by a natural disaster. This
month’s newsletter features a book by a Confederacy nurse and information on how to
help nurses get to Haiti. As always, nurses are out there doing what they have to/want
to do.
And be sure to scroll all the way down to see what’s new from Cardillo & Associates this month. Hint: It’s a long awaited CD program!
Nursing Theory Link Page This site is a compilation of the most used links to information about nursing theorists, such as Virginia Henderson and Patricia Benner. This page was originally designed in 1996 by two undergraduate students at Clayton State University, Morrow, GA, as part of their nursing theory coursework. Since then, it has been under the care of Lisa Eichelberger, RN, DSN, Dean, School of Nursing and Nursing Professor. For more visit nursing.clayton.edu/eichelberger/nursing.htm. Career Article: Age Is a State of Mind I always marvel at how hung up on age so many of us are — even when we're still relatively young! I often receive Dear Donna questions such as: "I’m 28 years old. Am I too old to become a nurse?" or "I’m 48 years old and just got out of nursing school. Will anyone hire me at this age?" or "I’m 55. Is it too late to go back to school for a higher degree?" If only I had a nickel for every time someone asked me if they were too old to do something — I'd be rich! Read more.
The "I" in illness is isolation, and the crucial letters in wellness are 'we'. — Author Unknown Donna's Blog Is Nursing Boring – Or Is It You? I once heard someone say, "Life is not boring; people are boring." The implication is that if someone feels bored, it is his or her own fault because there is always something interesting to do, see, and learn in life. The same could be said for nursing. Yet I often hear nurses say, "I'm in a rut. I get up and go to work everyday, do the same thing, eat, sleep and do it all over again." If you are feeling bored in your job or career, create some positive momentum to liven things up and breathe fresh air into your life. How can do that? Read on. Read more at www.nurse-power.net/blog.
