Trauma Junkie: Memoirs of an Emergency Flight Nurse
by Janice Hudson

In Trauma Junkie, Hudson details the 10 years she spent as a flight nurse for California Shock/Trauma Air Rescue, a helicopter ambulance service based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Based on a journal she kept to help herself cope with the stress of dealing with critically wounded patients, Hudson recounts many of the dramatic rescues she participated in.

Cool Nursing Web Site:
Health Resources and Services Administration
HRSA nursing programs address the nation's registered nurse shortage by supporting nurse education, practice and retention with scholarships, loans, loan repayments, and grants. The site features information on financial aid for students and practitioners and grant programs for schools of nursing. HRSA administers the National Sample Survey of Registered Nurses every 4 years citing important demographic information about the nursing population including average salaries, educational background, and much more. News You Can Use:
Be Disaster Ready
The American Nurses Association supports President Obama's United We Serve campaign and urges RNs to be "disaster ready" by preregistering with a disaster registry and response organization.

By joining a disaster response registry, an RN's licensure can be pre-verified and validated; he/she will have access to disaster training and drilling; and during a disaster, he/she will be deployed through a recognized system that has been incorporated into the local, state, and national response plans.

The United We Serve campaign calls upon all Americans to make a focused effort to volunteer in their communities, culminating in a National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11, 2009. For more information about the campaign visit www.nursingworld.org.

Expanding Your View of Nursing

While speaking at an association meeting (non-nursing) someone came up to me and said do you help nurses who want to get out of nursing? I said, "Yes. I help them find another path in nursing if that's what it takes." Read more at www.nurse-power.net/blog.

Entrepreneur Spotlight:
A graduate of Brooklyn College School of Nursing in 1963, Nancy Orlen Weber worked in various nursing specialties until her last position as head nurse in an acute psychiatric unit. In 1975, Nancy opened her own practice as a psychic, healer, and educator. Her practice became full time within the year and gradually included teaching and workshops.

A gifted psychic, Nancy has consulted with police officers and FBI agents, giving specific, relevant, and concrete information that led to arrests. And as a medical intuitive, Nancy is able to advise clients on the use of essential oils to heal illness. As the testimonials on her website attest, she has been quite successful in both endeavors.

Nancy is also the author of Psychic Detective: True Stories and Exercises For The Soul, about the cases Nancy worked on with the police and the FBI, and The Gift of Interspecies Communication, True Stories and Exercises For The Soul, about Nancy's journey as an animal communicator and healer.
