As Gallup Poll Shows Nurses Top List of Trusted Professionals,
Nursing Career Expert, Donna Cardillo, RN,
Releases 2nd Edition of her book "Your 1st Year as a Nurse"
Sea Girt, NJ-- The 2010 Gallup Poll rating honesty and ethical standards of professions, once again, has placed nurses in the coveted number one position. The nursing profession has held this prestigious honor 9 out of the last 10 years, dropping to number two only in 2001, when firefighters were ranked number one.
Nurses represent the greatest percentage of healthcare professionals in the United States. However, there is a current shortage of registered nurses (RNs), which will continue to grow as baby boomers age, and the need for healthcare professionals increases. This trend offers unlimited opportunities for those entering the field.
As this demand for nurses continues to grow, Nursing Career Guru Donna Cardillo has released the second edition of her book, "Your 1st Year as a Nurse--Making the Transition From Total Novice to Successful Professional." This revised version of her invaluable nursing guidebook includes important information about obtaining a license, job hunting advice, a discussion of nursing ethics & standards of care, the future of nursing, and a special section for second-career nurses, including men who enter the profession. The book is published by Random House and is available at www.dcardillo.com or by calling 800-801-5796.
"This is an exciting time for nursing professionals," says Donna Cardillo, President of Cardillo & Associates. "With the nursing shortage expected to reach 260,000 registered nurses by 2025, it is more important than ever for people to consider this fulfilling and vital career. Most nursing programs already have a 2-3 year waiting list to get in." While not a textbook, Ms. Cardillo's book is required reading in many nursing programs. Additionally, many hospitals and healthcare facilities incorporate the book into their new nurse orientation programs.
