Ms.
Cardillo says "A goal of the Athena Award is to give
women of achievement more visibility. As a nurse, I am particularly
proud to receive this award. By so doing, I hope to create
more positive visibility for the nursing profession as a
whole. I also hope to expand the general population’s
view of who a nurse is, what we do, and how we contribute
to society. Nurses are multitalented and versatile individuals.
We make an impact on many different levels."
The
Athena Award program was created in 1981 and seeks to achieve
a representative balance of leadership by honoring individuals
and companies who assist women in achieving their full leadership
potential. The prestigious Athena Award program recognizes
individuals and companies on local, state, national, and
international levels. More than 2,666 people across the
world participate in the program each year. The Athena Foundation,
which sponsors this award, is dedicated to opening doors
of leadership opportunity for women in the workplace and
beyond and to make women of achievement more visible.

New Jersey League for Nursing, is a member of the American
