Donna
Cardillo Named Woman Business Owner of the Year

Donna
Cardillo, RN, MA has been named 2004 Woman Business Owner
of the Year by the Central Jersey Chapter of the National
Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). The Chapter
has also nominated Donna for the National award of 2004
Woman Business Owner of the Year which will be announced
at NAWBO’s 2004 Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX, June
3-5.
This
award recognizes the accomplishments of an outstanding NAWBO
member who has used creative initiatives to overcome obstacles,
grow a successful business, and help her community.
Donna
is a registered nurse who went from the emergency room to
entrepreneurship, experiencing a meteoric rise to the top
in business in a relatively short period of time. Overcoming
obstacles in her personal life, Donna continued to move
forward, never wavering in her belief that she could make
her business successful. A strong supporter of NAWBO’s
mission, Donna has served her Chapter in numerous positions,
established new programs, and played a key role in increasing
Chapter membership nearly 50%. An advocate for nurses, Donna
actively mentors dozens of women and men in their career
and personal agenda, has served on the Board of Directors
of the N.J. League for Nursing, and is a volunteer lecturer
for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Ms. Cardillo
is president of Cardillo & Associates, Professional
Development Seminars located in Sea Girt, NJ. She is a columnist
for Nursing Spectrum where she is known as “Dear Donna.”
Donna is the country’s leading expert on non-traditional
career opportunities for nurses and has been referred to
as the “guru of career development for nurses.”
She is the author of Your First Year as a Nurse - Making
the Transition from Total Novice to Successful Professional
from Three River Press, a division of Random House. Donna
has appeared on national television and radio, been quoted
in newspapers and magazines, and has written numerous articles
on career and professional development topics.
The National
Association of Women Business Owners is a national organization
representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs in
all industries. It currently has over 8,000 members in nearly
80 chapters nationwide and is affiliated with Les Femmes
Chefs d'Entreprises Mondiales (World Association of Women
Entrepreneurs) in 35 countries.
